![]() ![]() These visitors also leave their garbage bags and broken tents on the beach.Īnd once you have established yourself on the beach for a vieuwing of the wildlife, the other visitors with their cars make it a “fun” spectacle to chase the birds into the sky, a never-ending spectacle througout the day, so many people having “fun” by driving at high speeds through clouds of birds, we saw several birds with broken wings.Īnd after the birds have returned to their feeding, along comes a yellow schoolbus selling icecream, its music so loud it once again makes all the birds take flight.įor lovers of nature this beach has a lot of horrors, the constant attack on the wildlife by the visitors is appaling. The amount of plastic that lingers around is astounding, and is augmented day by day by the visitors. The wildlife on the beach is amazing, never have I seen so many species of birds fishing together. This is a beautiful nature park, where one is allowed, after paying $10 for a day, to drive onto a fabulous beach for almost 60 miles. It was cold and windy when we were there, but still enjoyed walking the beach and enjoying the view from our kitchen table.īe careful of the speed bumps entering and leaving. My husband drove his pickup 10 miles without driving to 4wd. ![]() Saw very few campers further south than about a mile and a half. ![]() There's a toilet and dumpsters at the north entrance to South Beach. Drivers, too.īeach camping is free, but you must register for a permit. The sea is best for swimming between May and October when the sea temperature is above the average 24C (75F) which is warm and pleasant for relaxing and swimming for long periods. If you're walking you can't hear approaching vehicles, so be observant. Saw a number of campers parked perpendicular with tires in what appeared to be soft sand, but I wasn't taking any chances. That being said, I parked parallel to the water just off the "road" where it was still packed hard. I've driven on gravel roads that were not packed as hard as this sand. For the first time ever, I drove my 25' Class C motorcoach on a beach and camped there. ![]()
